Khan Palace Yamen, built in 1603, in octagonal shape and having pyramidal roof with double eaves, was the place where Nurhachi ascended the throne, administering the state affairs, deliberating military affairs, and meeting envoys. On the first day of the first lunar month in 1616, Nurhachi ascended the throne and established the reigning dynasty as Dajin and took the reign title as Tianming.
