In this Prison, only Chuying, Nurhachi’s eldest son, had been locked up here. After Nurhachi dispatched troops in 1583, Chuying followed his father and went through lots of hard times. As Chuying was the eldest son and had many deeds of merit in war, so Nurhachi appointed Chuying as the heir to the throne. After that, Chuying claimed credit for himself and became arrogant and supercilious and spread words that he would abolish the four Beiles. After the Beiles knew this, they jointly submitted a letter to Nurhachi. Nurhachi considered that an enlightened emperor was not supposed to do that, so Chuying was ordered to repent and make a fresh start in the City; but Chuying burned incense and cursed his father to die in battle at the time when Nurhachi was dispatching troops; after knowing this, Nurhachi lost confidence in this son and imprisoned him in West Prison. Chuying was executed in 1615 and buried in Dongjing Tomb, Liaoyang. After that, Nurhachi decided not to appoint heirs but to handle state affairs jointly by eight chiefs of the Eight Banners.
