Taksi (Nurhachi’s father)’s Former Residence is the birthplace of Nurhachi who was born here in 1559. The whole building is characterized with Manchu folk houses: pocket-like houses and ∏-shape kangs, chimneys standing upstanding on the ground. And Manchu daily life in former days is reflected in this special customs in the northeast - “three weird things: window paper pasted outside, girls smoking with long-stemmed tobacco pipes, and raising children in lifted cables.”
